The exhibition, Chivalry and sadness (how to treat a rug burn), was created during Angie Quick’s one month artist residency at Gallery Merrick. The lush oil paintings explore codes of conduct, sexuality, and sensuality. The paintings are gestural and juicy figurations exposing moments of becoming undone. The works question the historical body in juxtaposition with the contemporary body while measuring ideas of valour and tenderness.
